Marvel fans across the world expressed how excited they were for the final installment of the Avengers series when they broke the record for presale tickets. On April 2nd, Fandango reported that the presale for “Avengers: Endgame” had surpassed the previous record for single-day ticket sales.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” held the previous record and grossed $248 million in its opening week. Within six hours of the presale tickets release, the new Avengers movie had already sold more tickets than Star War did on their first day of sales. AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. even claimed that Endgame had doubled Star Wars first day sales and sold more tickets than its last four Disney movies. The online traffic was so heavy that it even cause its servers to shut down.
The previous Avengers film, Infinity War, also set records as it had the biggest domestic opening weekend of all time at $258 million. The film then went on to gross over $2.04 billion worldwide.
With these numbers from the previous film, it is estimated that Endgame will outdo the records set by Infinity War. With many other great movies coming out like “The Lion King”, “Toy Story 4”, and “Star Wars: Episode IX”, Disney will be having an amazing year on the big screen.
